Shortly after arriving in Chicago, Jon witnessed a poor old lady fall on the sidewalk spilling her bag of groceries. Nearby a child with his mother wanted to help the lady, but the mother pulled the child away. The lack of compassion shown by the mother to the old lady, but the desire of the child to help, left a lasting impression with Jon.
