Jon was a romantic at heart. When Jon drew the Angel II
and Angel I they were drawn in such a way that when placed next to one
another the wings form a heart.
Although Jon flew regularly for business and for pleasure, he was afraid of flying. Jon's two most memorable flights were between Miami and Key West. One was aboard a rickety old DC-3. On Jon's next flight into Key West he insisted on a larger plane. Unfortunately, the runway at Key West is quite short. There is no room for error when landing a big jet. The plane slammed into the ground and screeched to a halt. The oxygen masks popped down, and half the luggage doors dropped open. The crew acted as though nothing out of the ordinary had happened.
Despite Jon's fear of flying, he could not deny himself the thrill of being "on the wing" going somewhere, doing something.
